The partnership between the University of Westminster and Westminster Children’s University has been set to successfully continue into 2018 with a festive celebration at Westminster’s Regent Campus at 309 Regent Street together with university staff and students at primary schools in the local borough.

The December event was organised by the University of Westminster’s Outreach team together with partners at Queen’s Park Primary School in the Borough of Westminster, and involved a host of activities including Christmas music, games, a film screening and a special ‘Stick-a-Snowman Activity’ (pictured).

The event cemented the University of Westminster’s partnership with young people as well as seats of learning in the local borough. It also helped expose young people, who may have never experienced what a university offers or does, to an accessible and inclusive life experience helping them to celebrate a successful year in festive fashion.

A teacher in attendance commented: “The school students really enjoyed the opportunity to express their creativity and importantly mark a hard working year in partnership with the University.”

Assam Alam, student ambassador studying on the Business Intelligence and Analytics MSc course at the University of Westminster, said: “Today has been hard work but fantastic fun! it’s been a real opportunity to do something really positive with schools in the area.”

Jim Carlberg, an Outreach Officer for Schools at the University of Westminster, said: “Following a successful year of collaboration it was a real treat to be able to celebrate the Christmas period in style and set the tone for further collaboration and success heading into 2018.”

The Children’s University is a national organisation for 5-14 year olds, also operating in Essex and Manchester. The University of Westminster will be hosting the eventual graduation ceremony for the youngsters studying on the scheme on 9 February at the historic Regent Street Cinema of the University.
