The series of over 50 events, started on 8 October with the launch of the Westminster Employability Award and ran until 9 November. It aimed to support the future employability and career opportunities of our students.

The events, organised by the Careers and Employability Service together with other teams across the University, featured careers fairs, workshops, job hunting, interview trainings, presentations, guest speakers, employer events, Skills Academy sessions, Employability Inductions, alumni talks and networking opportunities. They gave students the opportunity to network with industry experts, develop key employability skills and understand more about different career options.

A mix of internal and external industry professionals and speakers, including Coca-Cola, Elvis & Kresse, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, JLL and the Civil Service, offered students an informative and professional perspective throughout the month.

The Westminster Employability Award kicked off the start of this year’s Employability Month. It is an exciting new initiative, led by the Careers and Employability Service and designed to help students gain important work insights during their time at the University by formally recognising the extra-curricular activities they complete.

The Award offers a structured approach across four stages where points are awarded for completing activities such as joining the mentoring scheme, gaining experience through part-time work, and taking a personality test. Achievements will be recognised and celebrated at the Vice Chancellor’s Employability Awards event in June 2019, with students earning Bronze, Silver or Gold depending on their points.

Another highlight of the events was the launch of the Creative Talent Festival on 11 October, by the Creative Enterprise Centre. It showcased the best of Westminster’s talent to connect emerging creatives with employers and industry across creative and digital industries.
