Westminster Business School was an official sponsor of the 2015 First Women Summit in London. The inaugural full-day summit gathered an extensive network of pioneering women to educate, mentor and inspire other women.

Dr Ruth Sacks, who has developed the highly acclaimed Women for the Board programme, shared her views on culture and change and how to rid the boardroom of macho culture on a panel discussion.

The discussion was chaired by Dina Medla and had the following panellists:

  • Ruth Shaw, Chief Executive of the Sports Grounds Safety Authority
  • Sam Smith, the first CEO of a London stock-brokerage
  • Vin Murria, technology entrepreneur who has sold her two technology businesses for a combined $2 billion

Ruth discussed the importance of finding a good mentor, having a support system and self-belief. "Ambition is not a dirty word. It is about challenging and making comments in an assertive way – showing you have something to offer".
