The short film, entitled The Tale of Thomas Burberry, comes in the form of three-minute trailerstarring Sienna Miller, Lily James, Domhnall Gleeson and Dominic West.
Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer and graduate from Westminster’s BA Fashion Design course described the film for Vogue:
"The film we have made is a brief glimpse inspired by Thomas Burberry’s full and extraordinary life, which threaded its way through the history of the twentieth century in all its tumultuous highs and lows. To do justice to this story, we turned to a team of truly great twenty- first century British talent: Asif Kapadia, a director whose work I admire enormously and a cast of our brightest and our best actors.”
Since graduating from the University of Westminster’s BA Film, Video and Photographic Arts in 1994 (now Film BA Honours) , Asif Kapadia has directed several award-winning films including The Sheep Thief (1997), winner of the 2nd Prize Cinéfondation for Short Film at the Cannes Film Festival; The Warrior (2001), which won the BAFTA for Best British Film, Senna (2010) which won the World Cinema Audience Award Documentary at the Sundance Film Festival 2011 and Amy (2015) which won the Best Documentary BAFTA and Best Feature Documentary Academy Award in 2016 and became the highest grossing documentary ever screened in the UK.
