#WeAreInternational, the social media campaign which highlights the importance of international students to the UK is supported by the University of Westminster along with 160 other universities and organisations across the UK, was awarded Marketing Campaign of the Year at inaugural PIEoneer Awards 2017.

Judges for the awards praised the campaign’s use of video content, featuring home and international students, and how it has celebrated international students’ contributions to the UK’s knowledge base, economy and culture. They also recognised the campaign’s impact overseas and its collaboration with the US sister campaign #YouAreWelcomeHere.

Named the most internationally diverse university in the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand in the Hotcourses Diversity Index (HDI), the University of Westminster is a proud supporter of the #WeAreInternational social media campaign that has set out to draw attention to the UK Higher Education sector’s commitment to international students.

University of Westminster’s student body is made up of over 160 nationalities, including over 6,000 international students, and 30 per cent of our staff are from outside the UK.

As part of #WeAreInternational, the University previously ran a World Week campaign celebrating our international students and staff, and the international connections the University has with other universities and organisations across the world. Interesting and informative facts, showing that #WeAreInternational, spread all over the University’s Twitter and Facebook accounts for a week.

Westminster joined the #WeAreInternational campaign shortly after launching its hugely popular campaign #WestminsterWelcomesEU. Following the UK’s Brexit result, messages from Westminster’s international staff and students took over the University’s social media channels to promote our commitment to staying connected to Europe.

With students from 165 countries, staff from across the world and a highly international alumni community, the University of Westminster embraces global engagement in all its forms. We have a rich mix of international partnerships in over 20 countries worldwide, and place particular emphasis on providing international opportunities for our students. Our research addresses global themes and is sustained by international collaborations. We are an international institution, located in the heart of London.
