Dr Elayne Coakes and her colleague, Professor Amar D Amar (Stillman School of Business, Seton Hall University, USA) will lead a prestigious Professional Development Workshop (PDW) session entitled How to Manage Knowledge: Learning from a Global Comprehensive Knowledge Management Survey, at this year’s annual meeting of the Academy of Management to be held in Montreal, Canada.
The purpose of the Professional Development Workshops (PDW) is to creatively share knowledge and expertise with Academy members within a two-hour timeframe.
This PDW has two parts: The first part draws from the results of a very large, comprehensive knowledge management study conducted through cooperation between the two universities. The global survey includes respondents from over 75 countries and includes over 950 responses from mid-2007 to the end of 2009. The Knowledge Management Global Survey aims to gain an understanding of the role and function of knowledge in organisations, and how to manage it. The second part draws from their experience of using an online survey instrument and how this can be best utilised.
This successful academic working relationship began in 2007 when Amar was a Visiting Scholar in Knowledge Management at Westminster Business School.
