Three of the University of Westminster Students' Union (UWSU) Vice Presidents met with MP Mark Field to raise concerns on major political issues facing students and universities.

Tasawar Kurshid, Vice President for Regent, Ludovica Siniscalchi, Vice President for Cavendish and Dan Seamarks, Vice President for Harrow met with the University’s local MP, Mark Field, at Portcullis House in October to pose questions about political issues facing students at Westminster and across the world.

The USWU sabbatical officers discussed the implications of Brexit and the role of international students in the current higher education climate. Westminster and Cities MP Mark Field addressed concerns of uncertainly that comes with Brexit for students in general but described a strategy, currently in place within the government, that will afford students the same opportunities that they currently enjoy.

On the topic of international collaboration Mark stated that the higher education sector shall remain active and open to international students.

Speaking about the meeting VP for Regent, Tasawar Kurshid said: “The Students' Union had the privilege of discussing relevant matters such as Brexit and international students with Mark Field.

“This trip has allowed us to build relations with the local MP for Westminster and Cities, and we shall continue to engage more with Mark Field MP to address matters that affect students at Westminster”.
