The University of Westminster is committed to supporting care leavers and estranged students who do not have family support, and is proud to have been awarded the Buttle UK Quality Mark for its commitment to care leavers. Learn about the range of support the University offers for care leavers and for estranged students.
Participating in the Unite Foundation Scholarship Scheme will be part of the Westminster support package from the next academic year. The Unite Foundation is a charitable trust, which focusses on enabling young people under the age of 25 to make the most of educational opportunity. Emphasis is placed on supporting young people with academic ability and ambition for whom access to a secure home is particularly meaningful; students who have previously been in care or are estranged from their parents.
Chris Smith, Director of the Development and Alumni Relations Office at the University of Westminster, said: “I am delighted that the University of Westminster will be joining this tremendous scheme for 17/18. This additional, life-changing support to Care Leavers and Estranged students has been made possible thanks to the generosity of the Unite Foundation and we are really pleased to have been successful in our application to participate in the project.
“The University of Westminster has a long and proud history of creating opportunities for people from all backgrounds and this tremendous new partnership further supports our ethos of ‘education for all’.”
The deadline for applying for a Unite Foundation Accommodation Scholarship for the 2017/18 academic year is 26 May 2017.
