Dr Karen Jackson, Senior Lecturer in Economics, wrote an article on the four things we need to know about Brexit, in collaboration with Oleksandr Shepotylo, Lecturer in Economics at the University of Bradford.
Among the four points listed, Dr Karen Jackson explained how Brexit might not end up as an economic catastrophe but instead will make the UK significantly worse off. She also mentioned all the consequences that could potentially occur following a no-deal Brexit.
Dr Karen Jackson said: “People in the UK are right to be nervous as the evidence points to the fact that Brexit will make people worse off. Furthermore, ‘no –deal’ will mean more significant changes in our trade arrangements, which will make people people feel poorer than under a ’soft-brexit’.
“This said, and despite the many unknowns, the estimated impact of these new trade arrangements do not suggest a catastrophe.”
