Professor Franz Buscha, the Director of Research for the Westminster Business School, has been featured in the comment section of The Times regarding how the weather effects happiness.
Professor Buscha, who lectures at the University on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, has done extensive research in the field of economics. His research concerns education economics, labour economics and applied econometrics. He has made contributions to these fields in issues such as social mobility, workplace mediation, measuring the returns to education, and the effect of weather on happiness. His funded research has reached over £400,000 in total.
Professor Buscha said to The Times: “People are less happy with their jobs on sunny days.” However the effect is miniscule. He said: “It takes an additional ten hours of sunshine to decrease job satisfaction by 1 per cent.”
