Professor Lewis Dartnell, Astrobiologist and Professor of Science Communication took part in the Guardian’s Science Weekly podcast to discuss research of signs of Martian lives and whether humans should go to the red planet.

Professor Dartnell said: “The more that we have learnt about Mars with all the probes and machines we have sent there, the more Earth-like it seems to have been. […] There is still a possibility that Mars could have life beneath its surface. That’s what we are currently looking for in terms of astrobiology.’

Professor Dartnell also explored the role of robots and artificial intelligence in astrobiology and whether machines could be a good alternative for humans to find out if there could be life on Mars.
