Current staff and students were joined by friends, family, individual supporters and representatives from architecture practices to celebrate the students’ achievements. Visitors also had the opportunity to visit the Department of Architecture’s end of year exhibition, OPEN2015.
Professor Harry Charrington, Head of the Department of Architecture, welcomed guests and facilitated the Awards Ceremony, which showcased the range of excellent talent within the Faculty’s student body.
Currently in its fifth year, the VOLA prize for Interior Architecture BA was presented by Linzi Cassels of Pringle Brandon Perkins + Will, who was also involved in judging the awards. We are thrilled to benefit from VOLA’s kind support of this award, which recognises excellence and rewards our students’ hard work. This year’s recipients were Ning Pang, Carol Tan and Esma Al-Sibai.
Detail Magazine continues to provide annual subscriptions to students for the Best Architecture Design Detail in each year of the Architecture BA and the Master of Architecture courses. The work of seven students was kindly rewarded by Detail Magazine this year: Anton Kӧhler, Hugo Shackleton, Martynas Kasiulevicius, Shaden Meer, Ekaterina Dziadkovskaia, Andreas Christodoulou, and Andrew Baker-Falkner.
Set up in 2010 in memory of former student of architecture Shoaib, with generous support from his family, friends, fellow alumni and Grimshaw Architects, the Shoaib Mahmad Rawat Student Award highlights the best design projects in the Master of Architecture. In the presence of his family, Shoaib’s brother Bilal presented recipients John Cook, Alasdair Struthers and Amy Martin with this special award, which we are honoured to host.
