On 5 July we screened the film The Battle of the Somme to mark the battle's centenary.

This was as part of an initiative fostered between the Imperial War Museum and members of the First World War Centenary Partnership, of which we are members. For more details, see the Imperial War Museum's short film The Battle of the Somme: 100 years on.

The screening was open to members of the public in addition to University staff and students and was very well received. To tie in with the screening, Claire Brunnen from Archive Services made some fascinating objects from the University Archive available for visitors to view. She also produced a slideshow (ppt) and leaflet (doc) detailing some of the University’s connections with WW1.

We are very grateful to Westminster Law School for sponsoring refreshments.
