Christian Fuchs, Professor of Social Media in the Faculty of Media, Arts and Design was interviewed by Sky News on Trump’s use of social media.

On 20 January Donald J. Trump became the 45th President of the United States, gaining not just the most powerful job in global politics, but a new twitter account, @POTUS.

According to Sky News the account was wiped clean ready for the new president to use but has been ignored by Trump who continues to use his personal account as a way to bypass the accused fake media.

Donald Trump is not the first president to embrace new technologies, Professor Fuchs told Sky News: "If you look at the evolution of politics, then it stands in relationship to the evolution of technology.

"Even when politicians and presidents have a lot of attention in public, they try to use the newest technologies. What Trump is using is two media of his time. One is social media, where superficiality, speed and brevity fits his personality. The other one is reality TV."
