Dr Gwilym Jones, Lecturer in English in the Department of English, Linguistics and Cultural Studies, has published the first book to offer a comprehensive study of storms in the works of Shakespeare.

The book traces the development of the storm over the second half of Shakespeare’s career, when the playwright began to write for the Globe stage and took the storm to new extremes. It explains the storm effects used in early modern playhouses, and how they filter into Shakespeare’s dramatic language.
