The Department of Molecular and Applied Biosciences hosted 30 students from the Sv. IDent study tour on Wednesday 22 May 2013. This is a Study Association for the disciplines of forensic science and crime science at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede, the Netherlands.

The visiting students had lunch with Forensic Biology students and staff from the University followed by a talk about the University by Dr Bob Scott, a talk about the changes in the United Kingdom to the Forensic Science regulation by Dr Sharron McEldowney and an overview of research within the Department related to Forensics by Dr Caroline Smith.

Sv. IDent students went on a tour of the campus and met Miriam Hanna (UWSU Vice-President). They enjoyed seeing the library, lecture theatres and analytical laboratories. Dr Linda Percy gave a talk about identification of algae and diatoms in drowning victims and students viewed some dinoflagellates.
