The influential independent charity, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, is funding a team of researchers from SABE and Newcastle University to study the influence of geographical location on youth drinking behaviours. Principal investigator, Professor Marion Roberts said: “Our study will identify why there are differences in consumption practices between different areas in the UK. Although many young people drink sensibly, there is rising concern about the number of adolescents and young adults who experience health and other harms from drinking to excess.” The research team for the study, entitled ‘From Park to Club: youth, alcohol and place’ comprises Tim Townshend from Newcastle University and Dr Adam Eldridge, Ilaria Pappalepore and Budhi Mulyawan from SABE.
