The Republic of Ireland has recently published its Legal Services Regulation Bill which is close to the Legal Services Act 2007.

It will mean an external, lay-dominated regulator for the legal profession and it will allow the setting up of multi-disciplinary practices involving lawyers and non-lawyers delivering legal services.

The Centre for Regulation and Governance at University College Dublin is holding a conference on Regulating the Legal Profession and its consequences on 25 November.

International speakers are set to include: Lynn Mather, University at Buffalo; John Flood, University of Westminster; and Julian Webb, University of Warwick.
