Professor Steve Barnett, Professor of Communications, was quoted in an article by Wired about the launch of the new television channel GB News.
In the article, Wired discusses the comparison between Fox News and GB News, and whether this comparison is misleading.
Discussing the comparison between the two news channels, Professor Steve Barnett said: “Fox News has been happy to ally itself blatantly and overtly, with a very hard right form of politics, even to the point of being perfectly happy to distort the truth.”
He added: “I don’t think GB News, even if it wanted to, would get away with that. Because I think as well as rules on impartiality, we have rules on accuracy. And I think there would be an outcry.”
