Steve Greenfield and Guy Osborn visited South Africa as part of ongoing research project with NWU. In addition to work with staff and students at NWU, they also attended the conference, SPORT, STRENGTH AND SOCIETY, at Stellenbosch University Museum. Steve presented a paper on ‘The importance of strength, commitment and competition in the development of the culture and practices of English Public School (Rugby) Football in the 19th Century’ and Guy on ‘Sport, strength and society: two case studies’ drawing on his recent work on parkour and on archival work.

With the arrival of the new Doctor on BBC 1, Danny Nicol blogged again on Doctor Who and Britishness - view the blog, and also issued a call for papers for an excellent event due to take place next year on Television Drama, Law and National Identity

Theory meets Practice started with an excellent session on management contracts delivered by Chris Paget from Sheridans solicitors. In addition, whilst not formal Theory Mets Practice sessions, we were delighted to welcome back three Westminster Law School graduates to deliver lectures on our LLB Entertainment Law programme, Simon Anderson (Director of Publishing, Audio Network), Fiona McGugan (General Manager, Music Managers Forum) and Nick Kadrnka (Director of Legal and Business Affairs, CMG).
