A new Software Training Centre has opened at the University of Westminster’s Marylebone Campus to increase the employability of more students through IT training.

The Centre is a dedicated IT training facility for the University’s central London sites. It will support open IT training for all Westminster students, free of charge, and enable more students to take the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) and Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certified courses.

The new Software Training Centre is a spacious, hi-spec, purpose-designed venue offering a flexible multi-platform training space. The room offers a choice of single or twin projection and consists of 12 Macs and 12 PCs with two additional computers for trainers. There is also a dedicated space for one-to-one support with a large screen supporting laptop connectivity. Additional IT training also takes place at our Harrow Campus.

Run by the University’s IT Training team, the ACA qualifications on offer are Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Premiere Pro, and the MOS qualifications include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. All the qualifications enhance students’ CVs and employability by demonstrating their skills in these industry-standard software tools.

Kevin Lawley, IT Training Team Manager, said: “The IT Training team are pleased to have the new Software Training Centre as a dedicated space for IT Training. The new larger room will enable more students to attend the variety of courses on offer and we look forward to getting even more students through the Adobe and Microsoft certified programmes.”

Westminster students can view the IT training timetable for semester two, and sign up to the IT training sessions of their choice.
