The Vice-Chancellor is delighted to announce that Professor Kerstin Mey, currently Director of Research and Enterprise and Professor of Art and Design at the University for the Creative Arts, has been appointed Dean of the School of Media, Arts and Design.

Educated (MA and PhD) at the Humbolt University of Berlin, Professor Mey was a lecturer and senior lecturer at the University of Dundee before joining the University of Ulster as Professor of Fine Art and then Director of the Research Institute of Art and Design.

Kerstin’s research is concerned with contemporary cultural practices in the context of digital literacies and identity formations. Her interests incorporate relationships between art, documentation and archiving; and knowledge production at the interface of art and science.

Kerstin's publications include Art and Obscenity (2007); and edited volumes: with Smite and Smits, Artistic Research (2011); with Kroenke and Spielmann: Kulturelle Umbrüche: Identitäten, Räume, Repräsentationen (2007).

Kerstin was Artistic Director of ISEA 2009, the 15th International Symposium on Electronic Art, held in Ireland. She is also a member of the Austrian Science Council.
