Michael Kiwanuka, who studied on the University of Westminster’s Commercial Music Performance BMus Honours has been nominated in two BRIT Awards 2017 categories – Male Solo Artist and Album of the Year for his album ‘Love & Hate’.

Shortly after releasing ‘Love & Hate’ in July 2015, the album was shortlisted for several prestigious awards in the music industry such as ‘Best Album’ in MOBO (Music of Black Origin) awards and Hyundai’s Mercury Prize for ‘Album of the Year’.

‘Love & Hate’ which is the second album from singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka also became a UK Number One by topping the Official Albums Chart and beating ‘Home Again’ which previously held Number Four on the chart.

This year’s BRIT Awards put Westminster alumnus Michael Kiwanuka’s name among leading British artists like David Bowie, Craig David and Skepta.

The 2017 Brit Awards will be held on 22 February 2017 and will be the 37th edition of the British Phonographic Industry's annual pop music awards. The awards ceremony will be held at The O2 in London.
