Great news on the Whovian front. Danny Nicol has secured a special edition of the Journal of Popular Television for the papers from the Politics and Law of Doctor Who symposium, held by the Centre back in September. Danny will be the guest editor of this special edition.
The Centre also hosted two excellent events during March. Firstly, we were delighted to deliver the Once in a Lifetime event. Guy Osborn had been in discussions with Associate Fellow of the Centre Robert Allan for some time about this. Due partly to the transatlantic logistics it took a while to put together but we were really pleased to finally be able to stage this mock negotiation of the sale and purchase of a music publishing company. With contributors in Texas and California, in addition to the London contingent physically in the Portland Hall, the Audio Visual team, ably led by Vissen Limbea and with important input from Danilo Mandic, did a great job helping this to flow. The participants themselves were exceptional – the amount of time and effort put into this by Robert and the other contributors led to a truly memorable session. The session was streamed live and we hope to make the video available in due course.
Second, we also hosted a panel on the new FIFA regulations on Intermediaries. We had five superb speakers, all with different takes and perspectives on the implications of these new regulations. The session also featured a Q&A session with some excellent questions from a large and knowledgeable audience. More details on the contributors here. Thanks to Serhat Yilmaz for all his help on putting this panel together. The session was videoed and we will aim to make this available in due course.
