Alumnus Manish Patel has been shortlisted for the Company and Commercial Lawyer of the Year award at the Asian Legal Awards for his work in residential and commercial conveyancing.
The Asian Legal Awards are an annual ceremony dedicated to the celebration of the achievements of Asian lawyers in the legal profession.
The Company and Commercial Lawyer Award is given to a legal professional in the areas of company law, commercial law, corporate law, construction law and intellectual property. The recipient is someone who is excelling in their role and is developing a reputation in the field in order to stand out from their peers.
Manish works in residential and commercial conveyancing with experience in acting for companies in their sales and purchases of care homes and nursing homes. He is currently representing a company purchasing a large care home business. He also specialises in purchasing blocks of flats and converted blocks, which he is doing as a representative of a company purchasing a large block of flats and surrounding land.
Manish gained his Graduate Diploma in Law at the University in 1999 and he graduated from his Legal Practice Course in 2000. In June 2018 Manish joined Crane & Staples as a Senior Associate in the property department.
Manish said about the nomination: “I am so pleased to have made the final three. I couldn't have got where I am without the amazing support of everyone at Crane and Staples, my introducers, my clients, and my family. It’s an honour to be nominated and recognised for my hard work and dedication.”
Speaking about his time at the University, Manish said: “The teaching was brilliant and the preparation for life outside academia was great. The lecturers made going from a non-law undergraduate to a law degree holder very easy. I tell all the people I mentor that the years of study and hard work do eventually pay off.”
The winner will be announced on 28 September at the Royal Lancaster London.
