Journalism Masters student Alex Bath has claimed the top spot in google for his best of "Ashes Twitters".

At the time of writing, the popularity of Alex's blog: Alex Bath, the view from up here had surpassed that of professional media outfits.

His post providing a compendium of the best tweeters to follow for the very latest in The Ashes, quickly attracted 300 reads.

The Ashes is a five Test-match cricket series between England and Australia. England are current holders of the bitterly contested prize.

Says Alex: "I had a tweet from the editor of BBC Sport online saying it was a good post and had a few retweets from various cricket reporters, so all in all, fairly pleased with the blog".

His top recommendation is @aggerscricket in which he says:
"Jonathan Agnew is the voice of cricket coverage on the BBC, which means he is the anchor of Test Match Special; which means he is in charge!

You’ll hear everything happening down under, whether it is who Aggers has gone for dinner with or what the ricky Ponting was joking about in the press briefing".

For Alex, the feat is all the more remarkable, as he's only recently started a blog which is part of his multimedia training towards becoming a journalist.
