Serhat Yilmaz was involved in the Westminster Law Review event “The Ugly Side Of The Beautiful Game: Legal Analysis of Match-Fixing”, a very successful event which took place at the end of January. Kevin Carpenter was the guest and proved an extremely knowledgeable and interesting speaker. A podcast of the talk was recorded and can be heard via itunes download. Guy Osborn has had two pieces published, both available online. The first is The Responsible Tweeter in the blog The Justice Gap, the second is The Missing link: the coming out of ambush marketing in LawInSport.
Semester 2 teaching started with two new modules running on the LLB programme that emanated from the Centre. The first is Law and Social Media, a level 4 module run by Steve Greenfield and the other Law and Sport in Contemporary Society run by Guy Osborn.
On January 22nd Danny Nicol introduced a screening of episode 10 of The War Games (Doctor Who), this was followed by an animated discussion of legal themes running through the programme. Danny is organising a symposium on Doctor Who in September 2014.
