A group of undergraduate history students studying the module The Spanish Civil War: Spain in Crisis 1936-39 visited the Queen Sofia Library at the Instituto Cervantes in London.

The Institute is located in a beautiful building on Eaton Square. Librarian Maria Santurde introduced the students to the vast collection of books, DVDs and other media that the library holds on the topic of the Spanish Civil War.

Students were then able to study the library's archival collection of original Spanish Civil War leaflets. These publications are propaganda material published by the Spanish Republic, and their Nationalist opponents, led by General Francisco Franco.

The documents gave the students a unique insight into the 'propaganda war' fought alongside the war on the battlefields of Spain.
