The university recently invited students to enter a competition to develop a new online resource to support fellow students in building their skills and competencies, in preparation for graduation.

Four entries were shortlisted and invited to present their ideas to a judging panel of students and staff from different areas across the university.

The teams all had very interesting approaches to the task and it was difficult for the panel to decide on a winner. In the end, the panel chose two entries to be joint winners of the £3500 prize.

  • Andreea- Alexandra Socol, a third year from the Faculty of Science and Technology and Kelvin Sookdeo, a first year postgraduate from the Faculty of Science and Technology
  • Natasa Sos and Margot Scharff, both second years from the Westminster Business School

The runners-up also won £100 each for their excellent entries. Congratulations to all of the winners!

Santander Bank PLC, one of the University’s most valued partners, supported the competition.

Next steps

The university will work with an external IT supplier to develop the online resource. The winning teams’ ideas will be used during the development process. The winners will both help advise the developers from a student perspective and take part in activities to develop the resource. The resource will support students in developing the Westminster Distinctiveness graduate attributes.

University of Westminster graduates will demonstrate five graduate attributes, which are embedded in the revised undergraduate courses being introduced in 2016/17 academic year. The graduate attributes will support students to become highly employable, globally engaged, and socially responsible.
