CSD’s strong track record of gaining external funding for research on the inter-relationships between governance, policy and sustainability continues, with news of a research grant award from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). This one year project explores the impacts of the Government’s target for achieving ‘zero carbon’ new homes. The principle investigator for the project Dr Dan Greenwood comments: “as well as being a vitally important sector for tackling CO2 emissions, policy for the built environment is a fascinating example of a complex challenge for policy-making, cutting across a number of sectors including planning, energy and building regulations. This project, which builds on our previous work, explores the practical impacts for industry and home buyers of recent policy changes under the Coalition government.”
Further information about the research is available on the zero carbon homes target page.
