The Student Schools Association has organised a talk by Aneeta Prem on the subject of forced marriages.

The government estimates there could be up to 8,000 cases of forced marriages in England with the numbers rising every year.

Aneeta Prem set up the Freedom Charity to help vulnerable children and young people who are at risk of, or are subjected to violent crimes, dishonour-based violence and forced marriages throughout the UK. It provides a 24-7 helpline with access to trained counsellors.

She is a JP and was a member of the Metropolitan Police Authority. Her work is supported by Lord Harris of Haringey, chair of trustees of Freedom Charity and Rt. Hon. Keith Vaz MP, Chairman of the Home Affairs Select Committee.

She has published a book 'But It's Not Fair' aimed at schools and universities to help everyone recognise the signs of forced marriage and where to go for help. She has advised a number of support groups and worked with many victims. She has also been interviewed on radio and television many times about this subject.
