Duncan Bowie, senior lecturer in spatial planning, was invited to give two presentations to the Shanghai international advisory planning conference on 12th and 13th December 2013.

The first presentation to the full conference of some 200 Shanghai planners and officials was on Sustainable Development Options for London. The second presentation to a group of 60 planners and officials of the Qingpu district was on The Green Belt, Open Spaces and Country Parks in London. Qingpu is developing a coutry park and a new city for one million people. Duncan was one of only three European invitees to the conference, which also received presentations from planners from Seoul, Korea and from Hong Kong. Duncan also participated in a series of study tours, formal and informal discussions.
