Dr Kathryn Waddington, Work and Organisational Psychologist and Emerita Fellow at the University of Westminster, spoke about why organisations should look to streamline and reduce meetings where possible for LBC.

Dr Waddington spoke about what conditions need to be in place for productive meetings to occur, and the importance of each person in a meeting being treated as equal thinking partners who feel able to provide their thoughts.

She said that having clear objectives and outcomes is a key part of productive meetings and highlighted the importance of avoiding ‘paralysis by analysis’.

It is important only to have the people who are really needed in a meeting present and for the meeting to stay focused on the topic in hand, Dr Waddington said.

Dr Waddington’s comments come after the Canadian e-commerce firm Shopify said they would cancel all meetings on Wednesdays and stop all recurring meetings with two people or more.
