Eminent designer Sadie Morgan, Co-Founding Director at dRMM Architects and Design Chair at High Speed Two (HS2), will open the University of Westminster’s architecture and interiors students’ end-of-year-exhibition, OPEN 2016, on 16 June, as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2016.

The annual celebration showcases the emerging talent of students from the University of Westminster’s Architecture BA Honours, Interior Architecture BA Honours, Master of Architecture (MArch) RIBA Part 2 and Architectural Technology BSc Honours courses.

The OPEN 2016 exhibition will include students’ dissertations and works from their first year to graduation, ranging from architecture drawings and computer-generated models to interior designs’ visions and projects. Themes explored by exhibiting students will include democracy, English village traditions and events, austerity, art institutions, and collaborative architecture between London and Beijing.

Attendees will get a unique chance to witness the acclaimed end-of-year show in the studios of the University’s Marylebone Campus, where the University of Westminster’s state-of-the-art digital fabrication laboratory, the Fabrication Laboratory Westminster, and the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment are located. The architecture studios have recently undergone a £5.2 million redevelopment upholding Westminster as one of the UK’s leading centres for the study of architecture and the built environment.

Harry Charrington, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at the University of Westminster, said: “OPEN is an event to look forward to and is a great celebration of our students’ work. This year it is being held for the first time in our beautiful new studios, giving us the opportunity to fully show off the extraordinary imagination, care and craft involved in the projects.”

The OPEN 2016 exhibition will be open to the public from 9am to 9pm every day between Friday 17 June and Tuesday 28 June at the University of Westminster’s Marylebone Campus, 35 Marylebone Road, London NW1 5LS.
