The University of Westminster’s Chantal Mouffe will be chairing the event held from 2:30pm on Friday 19 May that will explore left-wing and right-wing populism in Europe with prominent speakers such as Owen Jones, columnist for The Guardian and political activist.

The event will take place at the Little Titchfield street site and will discuss the growing success of ‘populist moment' with the emergence of anti-establishment movements in many European countries.

A selection of European keynote speakers include Pablo Bustinduy from Spain, Christophe Ventura from France, and Samuele Mazzolini from Italy.

Chair of the event and Professor of Political Theory Chantal Mouffe said: “In the era of Trump, the left has to come up with a counter-hegemonic project. Movements like Podemos in Spain and Insoumise of Jean-Luc Melenchon in France show that populism can be a progressive project for change.”
