The symposia will be as follows:
- Symposium 1: 'Alternate Spaces: Journeys' – to explore physical, spiritual and literary journeys, 29 March 2014 at Queen Mary’s, London.
- Symposium 2: 'Alternate Spaces: Landscapes' – to include art history and heritage as well as literary landscapes, 7 July 2014 at Plymouth University.
- Symposium 3: 'Alternate Spaces: Voices' – to include publishing/book history and the book trade, 9 September 2014 at Oxford Brookes University.
Each symposium will comprise around ten invited speakers who will deliver a short paper and engage in the development of a wider discussion. The project hopes to produce an edited collection of essays (Routledge) and a special edition of Journal of War and Culture Studies.
We have a number of spaces remaining at each symposium. Anyone interested in participating should send a 200-word abstract to the organisers, Angela K. Smith (Plymouth University [email protected]) and Krista Cowman (University of Lincoln [email protected]) by 29 November 2013. We would be particularly interested to hear from Early Career Researchers.
