Dr Martin Doherty, Head of the Department of History, Sociology and Criminology, recently contributed to the BBC Radio 4 history programme Document.

The episode, entitled Scotland’s Lord Haw Haw, was presented by Professor Jo Fox of the University of Durham and investigated the World War Two broadcasting career of the Scottish fascist Donald Grant.

Dr Doherty spoke about the five so-called ‘freedom’ stations, which broadcast anti-war propaganda from Germany, while pretending to represent dissident groups in the UK.

Listen to the programme on BBC iPlayer Radio.
