We're building a better University for all our students, and listening to your feedback is crucial in allowing us to do so.

In the past, you told us that you wanted longer library hours and the ability to submit your coursework from anywhere.

New 24-hour library opening times

From 5pm on 1 December 2012, Cavendish, Regent and Harrow Libraries will be open 24/7 (see below for our Christmas library opening times). This means that all our libraries will be open around the clock.

Together with a new out-of-hours IT support service via the FixIT Centre, students now have the opportunity to study entirely to their own schedule and get support when they need it.

Christmas library opening times

All University buildings including the libraries will be closed from 4pm on 21 December to 9am 2 January 2013. 24/7 resumes at all libraries from 9am 2 January 2013.

Library refurbishments

A self-service for reserved books has now been introduced at all libraries, so students can collect books at any time, even when the library counter isn’t staffed.

Regent Library

Over the summer, Regent Library underwent refurbishment work to provide a brighter, modern and flexible study environment. There are now zones for quiet and group study.

Marylebone Library

With the opening of the new Learning Platform this autumn, Marylebone library counter is now much more accessible for students. The library now has a flexible study space with quiet and group study areas.

Cavendish and Harrow Libraries

Cavendish and Harrow Libraries have also benefited from extensive refurbishment work over the last two years and offer much improved study areas.

Online coursework submission

The School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages led a successful pilot of online coursework submission in 2011-12, which attracted positive feedback from students.

From the start of the 2012-13 academic year, electronic submission of coursework has become the norm at five of our Schools. Consequently, unless coursework is not appropriate for e-submission, you can now complete your assignments and submit them from anywhere in the world, provided you have an internet connection.

We expect online submission to be further extended across the University in 2013-14.
