Unearthing Elephant aims to document, celebrate and advocate for the unique space that is Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre.
Written and filmed through 2014–17, the film weaves the imagined voice of the Shopping Centre itself together with the voices of traders, customers, local residents and academics. The work questions issues of belonging, community, displacement, nostalgia, space and spatial justice. It is by Eva Sajovic, Rebecca Davies and Sarah Butler and edited by Shona Hamilton.
The artists will introduce, take questions, and engage in a discussion with experts from politics, law, art and geography including Elisabetta Brighi from the Department of Politics and International Relations, as well as Victoria Brooks and Andreas Philippopoulos-Mihalopoulos from Westminster Law School.
