A discussion on emergence of the constitutional arrangements between the nation-states of India and Pakistan with the two parts of Jammu and Kashmir respectively. It will highlight how nation states use constitutional mechanisms to establish sovereignty and control over the sub-national populations.

Speaker: Gazala Farooq is a researcher at the Centre for Law and Governance, Jawaharlal Nehru University at New Delhi, India. Before joining the university she practiced law at Jammu and Kashmir High Court. Her research interests include gender, violence and constitutional law.
