Now in its 35th year, The University of Westminster’s New Developments in Politics Short Course provides teachers of government and politics in schools and colleges with up-to-date knowledge of recent political developments in Britain, the United States, Global Politics and the European Union, as well as the usual opportunities to discuss the 2010 EDEXCEL and AQA exam papers.
The 2010 course will be held at the University 5-8 July in our 309 Regent Street building, nearest tube Oxford Circus.
On the first day, we focus on the 2010 British General Election and its constitutional consequences for Parliament and government. The day on United States politics and government focuses on the Obama administration and its relations with the Congress, the Supreme Court and the public. On the fourth day, there will be parallel sessions on Global Politics and European Union politics. Topics discussed in these sessions will include the global financial crisis, nuclear proliferation, international human rights, the future of the euro, supranationalism and intergovernmentalism, and competing policy responses to the crisis within the EU.
