About the talk
The UK Government and the public sector are significant purchasers of goods and services. For the private sector, selling to the public sector can be both a confusing, challenging minefield and/or rewarding opportunity. With the recent high profile collapse of Carillion, public sector outsourcing is firmly in the public spotlight. Farooq will share his experience to provide a high-level overview of this landscape touching on some of the current issues which face both the buying and selling communities. This will be of interest both to those who wish to compete for and win public sector contracts and those who are outsourcing the same.
There will be time for the audience to ask questions of the speaker both during the Q&A and informally after the event when there will be refreshments and networking.

About Farooq Mohammed

Farooq has a professional background in property and the built environment, and over 30 years of experience incorporating public sector procurement from both sides of the buy and sell divide. Initially working as a ‘game keeper’, a buyer within the public sector, he later worked for FTSE companies such as KIER plc and British Gas, where he held senior roles such as New Business Director and Business Development Director, including Bid Teams. In 2012, Farooq exited the corporate world and today leads highly successful consultancy es-p, who provide ‘an instinct for winning’ to both UK and International companies. The consultancy helps companies to identify, win and mobilise contracts which can range in value from £500k to £500m.
