Please join us to celebrate the launch of the Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded project The Lexis of Cloth and Clothing: Medieval Royal Wardrobe Accounts, based at the University of Westminster and The National Archives.
Location: The National Archives, Bessant Drive, Richmond, TW9 4DU.
Through a website, the project provides an introduction to cloth and clothing in the royal household during the reigns of Edward I, Edward II and Edward III. The aim is to provide school-children, students and interested members of the public with a way to engage with a number of facets of Britain’s medieval past.
Louise Sylvester, Professor of English Language at the University of Westminster, and Dr Mark Chambers of Durham University will introduce the Lexis of Cloth and Clothing database, before the project researcher Dr Charles Farris describes the project’s activities and demonstrate its website.
The talks will be followed by a drinks reception and an opportunity to view some of the manuscripts which feature in the project.
