Kirit Patel is going to share his secrets of what made him a very successful entrepreneur.
He believes entrepreneurial skills are acquired and not necessarily inherited. In this talk he will elaborate the eleven principles that helped make him an extremely successful entrepreneur. The principles he will talk about are having belief in yourself and the courage and persistence to carry out your vision. Evaluating risk and execution of the game plan is paramount. Other characteristics such as honesty and integrity and the ability to be innovative and thinking laterally in what makes entrepreneurs unique. They are never put off by failure.
Kirit Patel MBE is the founder and chief executive of the Day Lewis Group. With 40 years of retail pharmacy experience, Kirit has grown the business from 2 pharmacies in 1975 to now over 250 pharmacies based in the UK, with a turnover in excess of £300 million and EBITDA of £23 million.
Having qualified as a pharmacist, Kirit has also completed an MBA from Westminster University in 1988, a Diploma in Philosophy from Brighton University in 1998 and the Advanced Management Program at Wharton, University of Pennsylvania, in 2006. Further, Kirit’s contribution to pharmacy and public service was recognised in 2005 when he was awarded an MBE by her Majesty the Queen. He is recognised as one of the most successful entrepreneurs in pharmacy and the Top 100 Entrepreneurs by the Management Today Magazine.
Kirit was appointed by the Secretary of State for Trade & Industry on to the Small Business Council (2000-2003) and was also appointed by the Cabinet Office to The Better Regulation Task Force (2004-2006). He is a past chairman and Board Member of the National Pharmaceutical Association (1992-2004), the trade body that represents the professional and commercial interests of the owners of around 11,000 community pharmacies in the UK.
He was voted “CEO Of The Year” at the PwC UK Private Business Awards in 2014.
