David Davies, Events Producer
David Davies is currently producer of the Mercury Prize, which is an annual music prize awarded for the best album from the United Kingdom and Ireland.
As well as overseeing the awards show, David also manages the shortlist announcement and is responsible for the television coverage and session recordings.
A failed graduate of not one but two universities, David began his media career at school when at fourteen he realised that lighting jazz concerts was more fun than maths GCSE.
He then worked professionally in theatre, events, commercials and television drama, initially as a Best Boy and later as Gaffer.
Alongside this he worked in events producing up the world's first 3D Print Show, where he also directed the television coverage, and managing a 20,000 delegate conference for the United Nations in Dubai. He travelled extensively for a financial company organising conferences in New York, Singapore and Rio.
Immediately before joining The Mercury Prize, which he managed as a freelancer for two years, David produced a television commercial in Madrid with the world’s most expensive and the world’s highest paid footballers.
