We present findings from two online surveys, (one short, n=430, and one in-depth, n=181) investigating engagement with research among teachers and teacher educators in foreign language education in the UK.
We present results on: 1) the amount and nature of research 'consumed' and done; 2) attitudes towards different types of evidence about learning; 3) views about research designs used to evaluate effectiveness; 4) perceptions of research; 5) factors that hinder and help engagement with research. Our findings indicate an important role for university-based teacher education in disseminating research.
