This event is a rare opportunity for students and staff of  University of Westminster to interact with, listen to and question senior and experienced Tibetan politicians, including Padma Choling, working within China. It will be chaired by Professor Dibyesh Anand, Head of Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Westminster.

Padma Choling (Baimachilin in pinyin in Tibetan), Member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and a Vice Chair of the Ethnic Affairs Committee of NPC members will lead a delegation of senior Tibetan officials from China. 

Padma has extensive experience of working in the Tibet Autonomous Region of People’s Republic of China and was the Chairperson of TAR from 2010-2013 and thus the senior most ethnic Tibetan person in the regional government. He remains active through his membership of NPC, which is the highest organ of state power in China. NPC operates through nine special committees and Mr Choling is the Vice Chair of the Ethnic Affairs Committee. The delegation from China will be headed by him.
