This one day workshop will address how teachers of Chinese can increase student participation, and make learning both more enjoyable and effective by grounding language and activities in the real world.

In the first session, Huang Dian will explore innovative ways for teachers to introduce and practise grammatical structures. She will demonstrate how a more communicative approach can help establish a link between physical and mental worlds and thus improve retention and understanding.

In the second session, we will look at teaching speaking. Trainer Helen Day will ask participants to consider the importance of this skill for real world communication, and demonstrate how teachers can maximize practice time, and manage student expectations and motivation.

This is a FREE workshop and is suitable for teachers working at secondary, and college/university level, as well as teachers working in adult learning. It is jointly sponsored by Macmillan Education and the University of Westminster.
