Built Environment Collaboration & Integration at University of Westminster presents an event exploring the challenges faced in the construction of Cannon Place.
Cannon Place is a recently completed office development in the heart of the City of London, built above Cannon Street’s stations. Both stations, two of the busiest in London, remained operational throughout the works.
The site had restricted height corridors, archaeology, underground tracks, conservation areas and existing foundations to deal with. The challenges of building above active stations, as well as in the heart of one of the world’s busiest cities had many varied design and construction challenges.
Alister Offiler, the Project Director for Laing O’Rourke will lecture on the many challenges faced and how they were overcome using new techniques, such as 4D modeling, as well as more traditional methods.
