By Dr Diana Harcourt, Department of Psychology, University of West of England
Society seems to be increasingly obsessed with appearance. This seminar will give an overview of recent research into the psychology of appearance, in particular research into psychological factors and processes that influence adjustment to an altered appearance, such as cleft lip and palate, scarring, amputation and skin conditions. It will also consider some areas in which further research is needed, in particular interventions to support people with appearance-related concerns and challenge societal attitudes towards appearance
All students and staff are welcome.
